FINOS / FDC3 Open Interoperability Standards Implementations

Glue42 has developed an open-source, vendor-agnostic implementation of the FINOS/ FDC3 APIs, designed to run on any/multiple buses.

About FINOS and FDC3

FinTech Open Source Foundation FINOS

What is FINOS?

FINOS, the Fintech Open Source Foundation, is an organization aimed at accelerating collaboration and innovation in financial services technology through the adoption of open source software, standards, and best practices. It is a member of the Linux Foundation and is composed of over 30 organizations, including tier-one banks, technology providers, and consultancy firms. Glue42 is a proud FINOS member and often holds presentations and demos at community events.

Watch the recording of a FINOS members meeting to learn more about the initiative’s goals and why Glue42 is an active contributor.

Glue42 presents the first multi-bus/multi-host implementation of the open interoperability standards, introduced by FINOS/FDC3. This video will:

  • Describe the implementation architecture;
  • Explain how to add support for a new bus;
  • Explain how to add a new host and build the demo system;
  • Present a demo of the FDC3 app (using Morgan Stanley’s Desktop.JS, connecting to Glue42 and Refinitiv’s Eikon)
FDC3 Open standards for the financial desktop

What is FDC3?

FDC3 (The Financial Desktop Connectivity and Collaboration Consortium) was founded in 2017 by OpenFin and contributed to FINOS. The FDC3 is the first standardization initiative for application deployment in the financial industry. It now lives as a project under FINOS in GitHub.

The mission of FDC3 is to enable true plug-and-play interoperability and discovery on the financial desktop without prior bi-lateral agreements. FDC3 does this by bringing together the key stakeholders in financial software to establish standard protocol, taxonomies, and APIs.

FDC3 has over 100 participants from 40+ financial firms, representing major sell-side, buy-side, and vendor firms across the industry. The program is committed to producing functional, open, and non-proprietary standards. Glue42 has implemented the FDC3 standard into its products — Glue42 Enterprise and the open-source platform Glue42 Core.
